Middle School Instructional Coach

Position: Instructional Coach

Reports to: Director of Teaching and Learning.

Evaluated by: Director of Teaching and Learning.

Job Goal: The Instructional Coach supports staff members in ensuring high academic achievement for all students. The Instructional Coach works with colleagues through one-on-one or small group coaching to assist staff members with data-informed instruction and student-centered instructional practices. The Instructional Coach assists staff members with implementing curricular resources and support materials and provides a variety of professional learning opportunities to impact student achievement positively.

Qualifications

• Current Illinois Professional Educator License.
• Required Endorsements: Elementary Education K-9
• Additional Endorsement Preferred: Teacher Leader
• Master's degree preferred
• Five or more years of teaching experience
• Evidence of improving student achievement in the classroom
• Demonstrated deep knowledge of one or more instructional content areas
• Knowledge and use of a rich array of instructional practices/strategies
• Interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills
• Knowledge of adult learning theory, coaching/mentoring scenarios, leading professional development
• Ability to facilitate peer coaching and staff development
• Knowledge of standards-based education system
• Knowledge of equitable best practices
• Experience as an innovative teacher
• Able to design personalized professional learning to stay up to date with the latest research-based instructional practices and technology

Performance Responsibilities

• Collaborates regularly with staff for instructional planning, co-teaching and modeling of proven instructional methods, including the use of technology resources, curricular materials and assessments.
• Utilizes coaching cycles to set goals with teachers, model or co-teach teaching strategies, conducts collaborative dialogues to work towards quantifiable progress.
• Serves as a resource in identifying appropriate instructional strategies and interventions to improve student achievement for all students.
• Collaborates with administrators on curriculum development and technology integration.
• Collaborates with administrators to plan and implement learning opportunities for staff.
• Participates in improvement process through goal setting and implementation as well as data analysis for instructional improvement.

• Researches the integration of current and new district resources for dissemination to staff.
• Advises district administrators on high-value high-impact curricular and technological integration techniques and resources.
• Maintains a current knowledge of technology integration strategies and effective instructional and coaching pedagogy.
• Knowledge of instructional design principals, education theories, including instructional systems design, and adult learning theory.
• Assists with the integration of technological resources in assessment strategies and data-driven instructional strategies.
• Provides support for consistent implementation of adopted curricula and district initiatives and goals.
• Meets regularly with the Director of Teaching and Learning.
• Seeks feedback from all stakeholders and assists in ongoing program review cycle.
• Other duties as assigned.
